McFly star Dougie Poynter’s Drug & Alcohol Rehab Saved His Life

Music star Dougie Poynter has admitted that he spend time in the Priory getting help with his addiction to drugs and alcohol which took over his life after splitting with Frankie Sandford in February 2011.

This is the first time Dougie Poynter has spoken out about his addiction problems which came out during an interview with Alan Carr which will be broadcast tonight on Channel 4.

Dougie was on the show promoting the new Mcfly book Unsaid Things… Our Story which is released this week.

His revelations drew gasps from the show’s studio audience.
Carr added: “Last time you were on Chatty Man, you weren’t yourself. Now I realise you were battling drink and drugs. Did you feel better once you wrote about it?”
Dougie replied: “It is quite easy to forget. It’s quite therapeutic to go back, quite scary and a bit of an eye opener into how dark it can get if you take your foot off the gas and stop looking after yourself.”
