Addiction Recovery Options in Wells

If you are ready to end your addiction problems, you will need to take action fast. The problem with delaying is that your motivation to quit might evaporate, and there is no telling when or even if it will return. There are some good options for people who are trying to break away from addiction in the Wells area. We will be able to discuss these with you when you telephone us – alternatively you can just text 66777 with the word “help” and wait for us to call you right back.

How to Choose a Rehab

One of the most popular options for people who are trying to break away from addiction will be some type of residential programme. There are many reasons for why this is such a good option, but the main one is that it gives you the best possible start to your recovery – it provides you with a solid foundation. If this were an option that you have not really considered then we would advise that you do so now because it really could make all the difference.

Choosing an appropriate rehab involves finding out what is on offer and matching this to your needs. Some of the things that you will want to consider will include:

  • · Each programme will be based on the facility’s overall philosophy for recovery. For example, in many rehabs in the UK their philosophy will be based on the Minnesota Model, which is closely associated with the 12 Steps as used by groups such as AA. If you know about the philosophy of the rehab, you will have a good idea about what to expect from them.
  • · You will also need to know what type of client the facility is most comfortable dealing with. For example, some places specialise in helping people with complex addictions involving mental health problems such as depression.
  • · If you have special mobility needs (e.g. you use a wheelchair), you will need to know that the rehab can cater for this. Unfortunately, some of the rehabs in the UK are in old buildings that are not really suitable for disability access.
  • · You will want to know the duration of the programme. This can vary a great deal – anywhere from 28 days to 2 years. There is some evidence to suggest that the longer the programme the better it will be for the individual.
  • · Another common concern will be the level of comfort provided by the facility. If you go private, you will be able to enjoy much higher levels of comfort – some facilities are more like fancy resorts.
  • · If you are concerned about sharing a room with other people, you may want a facility that offers private accommodation. There are many places in the UK that do this – you may also be able to get things like en suite facilities.
  • · One of the most important things that you will want to find out about when choosing a rehab will be the aftercare programme. This is crucial because if you do not have enough aftercare you can quickly undo the good work of rehab as soon as you go home. Any rehab you choose needs to take your transition back to the community seriously, and if they do not do this, we advise that you look elsewhere for help.
  • · In many instances, people will require some type of supervised detox, and this is an option worth considering even if you are not at risk of severe withdrawal symptoms because it will make things much easier. Many rehabs will also offer detox beds.
