Stop Paying a Heavy Price for Substance Abuse

If you are addicted to alcohol or drugs, it will mean that you are already paying a heavy price for this behaviour. The bad news is that things are only going to get worse unless you are able to break free. We do not believe that anyone ever chooses to become addicted, but we do believe that it is the responsibility of the person to end this behaviour – just as it is the responsibility of the individual with cancer to get treatment for his or her condition. If you are fed up paying a heavy price for your alcohol or drug use, we will be able to help you. There is going to be a solution that will work for you. Call us right now, or just text the word “help” to 66777 and begin your walk to freedom – we will be able to tell you about recovery resources available in the Londonderry area.

You Have Already Suffered Enough as a Result of Addiction

It does not matter if you have been addicted for three days or thirty years, you will have already suffered enough because of the addiction. There is absolutely no need for you to go any further into this suffering, and if you proceed, you will be taking an unacceptable risk. You must keep in mind that the longer you remain addicted the more you are going to suffer, and if you do not feel willing to quit now there is no reason to believe that you will want to quit later. You have to make yourself want to quit, and it makes sense that you should do this now rather than later. Remember that the sooner you are able to break away from this behaviour, the sooner you will be able to enjoy a much better way of living. Some people mistakenly believe that ending the addiction is about bringing them back to square one, the place where they were before falling into substance abuse, but this is not the goal. The aim of recovery is to allow the individual to enjoy a life that is better than anything they have ever experienced previously.

One excuse that people will use to continue using alcohol or drugs is that they feel that they have not yet reached rock bottom. They have probably heard that most people who give up addiction will claim to have done so after hitting their rock bottom, but this does not mean that there is a special place in the downward spiral where giving up alcohol or drugs becomes easier. All rock bottom really means is that the individual has reached a point where they have decided that they have lost enough. It has nothing to do with the amount they have lost due to addiction; it is just that they have decided that they have lost enough already. The individual can come to this decision at the beginning of their addiction or after they have almost destroyed their body and mind – the choice is up to them. There is no rock bottom to wait for. It is always up to the individual to call it a day and decide that they will get help to end their addiction. Their recovery will not be stronger because they suffered more than they needed to – it just means that they have suffered more. In fact, the longer the person delays getting help the less likely they may be to be able to recover.
